$2,000 reward for cat that disappeared somewhere between Nice and LA

A $2,000 US dollar reward has been offered for the safe return of a pet cat that disappeared on Air France flights between Nice and Los Angeles, with a layover in Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle.
The reward (equivalent to €1,713) has been offered by the owner, Ambre, who was distraught to find that her pet cat’s cage had been broken during the journey from Charles de Gaulles (CDG) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and the cat was nowhere to be seen on arrival.
The cat, named Teddy, successfully flew from Nice to Charles de Gaulle, and spent the night in a cattery in CDG. It was then, accounts suggest, successfully checked in to flight AF0072 destination LAX the next morning, Thursday, July 29.
But by the time the cage was delivered at LAX, the cage had been damaged, and Teddy was gone. Its collar was found still attached to the cage bars.
The requisite sticker reading “Live animal”, which had been stuck on the travel cage in Nice, had been visibly moved, Ambre told Nice Matin, “almost as if it had been used to stick the door closed again”.
The owner has worked with Los Angeles airport authorities to check the airport’s CCTV videos, and there is no sign of a cat escaping anywhere. If this is the case, the cat could still be in France.
Writing on Facebook, Ambre said: “Teddy's cage arrived at LAX completely damaged and completely EMPTY! We don't even know when Teddy escaped. Either the cage was damaged during loading on the tarmac at CDG, or in Los Angeles at unloading.
“Air France are the only ones who can answer us! Was Teddy on flight AF0072? Did she escape from flight AF0072 after a handler damaged her cage? Is she hiding in the plane? Look at your CCTV!”
Teddy was born in 2018, and has a tabby appearance, with a grey-brown coat. It is around 15cm long and 9cm tall with green eyes, and is microchipped with the number 250269608140832.
Now, 21 days later, Ambre has offered the large sum as a reward for anyone who can help with the safe return of her pet.
She said: “I want my cat, I want to know which country she is in.”
Air France has so far said on Twitter: “Air France is in permanent contact with Teddy’s family. Searches are ongoing and everything possible is being done to reunite them.”
