France faces a long summer of drought
France is already preparing for the threat of drought this summer, with 11 departments taking water restriction measures in early May.
Part of the Indre was placed on the most severe “crisis/red” level.
It means water can only be used in authorised priority situations, including for reasons of health, civil order, or drinking and necessary hygiene.
Part of the Vienne is on the second most severe “high/orange alert”.
Nord, Deux-Sèvres, Charente-Maritime, Charente, Creuse, Rhône, Ain and Isère are on mid-level “alert/yellow” stage.
Pas-de-Calais, Oise, Cantal, Savoie, Drôme, and Gard are on the first alert level of “vigilance/grey”.
