France set for record temperatures next week before storms move in
The south-west will be particularly hot on Monday with temperatures over 35C. Record seasonal highs could be recorded

France will see potentially record-breaking high temperatures on Monday (September 12), notably in the south-west of the country where it will reach over 35C in places, Météo-France has stated.
The weather service says that these temperatures could break records for this time of the year.
The temperatures will be caused by a minor hurricane off the coast of Portugal creating a flow of warm air that will spread towards France.
The highest temperatures will be in the south-west, but it will still reach over 30C over the southern two-thirds of the country.
Météo-France has described these temperatures as “very high for mid-September”.

The heat will not remain long, though.
Storms will arrive on Tuesday and clear out the warm air before lingering over the country.
There will be heavy rainfall and thunderstorms from the middle of next week coming up from the Gulf of Lion (near the Spanish border) and spreading eastwards, Météo-France states.
