Millions of summer train tickets go on sale in France, prices from €10
Tickets are lowest on the new ‘slower Ouigo’ service
Tickets for TGV, Inoui, Intercités, Ouigo TGV and Ouigo Classic services in July and August are now available on the SNCF website and app from today (March 9).
Booking is now open for journeys between July 2 and August 28, 2022. Tickets are available via the SNCF website, app, or participating stores and kiosks.
Ticket prices vary considerably, but most will be less than €49 for a single journey until June.
The cheapest tickets can currently be found for the new Ouigo “Classic” (regular speed as opposed to high speed) service, at €10-€30 on routes between Paris-Nantes and Paris-Lyon.
The Classic services are much slower, however; the journey takes around five hours for a Paris-Lyon trip compared to just two hours on a TGV equivalent.
This “slow Ouigo” service was launched on March 3, and on March 3-4 SNCF put 300,000 tickets on sale for just €5 in celebration, for journeys between April 11 and June 19.

SNCF has also announced a series of new services: the Intercités night train from Paris-Lourdes will now travel to Hendaye, with tickets for a seat starting at €19, and €29 for a sleeper berth.
SNCF said: “Trains are open for sale from 45 days before their departure date to ensure seats are still available at low-cost at short notice.”
However, Ouigo (low-cost TGV) Grande Vitesse (high-speed) seats are now booking for journeys up to December 10, 2022 inclusive, which is a full nine months before the departure date.
Ouigo TGV services are also extending in Brittany, with TGVs between Quimper and Ile-de-France set to stop at the stations of Lorient, Auray, and Vannes, from the stations of Aéroport Roissy Charles de Gaulle, Marne la Vallée and Massy TGV, between April 1 and September 5, 2022.
Overall, more than 10 million tickets are available for purchase across all services, lines, and dates, SNCF said.
The train company is also still offering exchanges and free refunds on tickets up to three days before the journey date.
