The city of Nice in southern France is to make parking completely free tomorrow (Thursday, January 27) due to planned disruption on public transport.

The Lignes d’Azur network and the mobility network Mobil’Azur in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur city are set to have difficulties all day due to a national social strike movement, the city announced.

As a result, parking will be free in areas where it is normally paid, between the hours of 09:00-20:00, on the day of the strike.

No service is expected on:

  • Tramway lines: L1, L2 and L3
  • Bus lines: 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23, 30, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 57, 64, 81, 87, Coeur de ville (town centre), N19, N63/64 and Cadam Est.

The Lignes d’Azur shops and all park and ride PARCAZUR sites will also be closed.

The transport network said: “All other lines will work normally.”

The city said that it was making parking free so the strike would not “take users hostage, and enable them to park in peace”.
