Can taxis from Paris airports charge more for extra passengers?

Reader question: If two of us are taking a taxi from Orly Airport to Paris is it normal to have to pay more as there are two passengers?

Taxi fares between Orly Airport and Paris’ city centre should not be dependent on the number of passengers as there is a fixed rate.

The rates are set at:

• €53 for Airport Paris - Charles-de-Gaulle to the Rive Droite (right bank) of Paris

• €58 for Airport Paris - Charles-de-Gaulle to the Rive Gauche (left bank) or Paris

• €37 for Orly Airport to the Rive Droite (right bank) of Paris

• €32 Orly Airport to the Rive Gauche (left bank) of Paris

It should be noted that Parisian taxis without fixed fare rates can charge an extra €4 per fare for taking a fifth passenger.

In 2022, the minimum fee four a taxi journey remains fixed at €7.30, as in 2021. This includes taxis in Paris and everywhere else in Metropolitan France.

In addition, taxi fares are capped at:

• €4.18 for the pick-up ;

• €1.12 for the price per kilometre travelled;

• €37.46 for the hourly rate for the waiting period (in case of reservation by the customer) or for taking a long time to reach the taxi.

For Parisian taxis, the additional charges for reservations are, as in 2021:

• €4 for reservations for immediate pick up

• €7 if booked in advance

The flat-rate fares for journeys to and from Nice Côte d'Azur airport also remain unchanged from 2021:

• €85 between Nice Côte d'Azur airport and Cannes

• €95 between Nice Côte d'Azur airport and Monaco

• €32 between Nice Côte d'Azur airport and Nice-centre

• €72 between Nice Côte d'Azur airport and Cap d'Antibes

For journeys to and from Toulouse Blagnac airport, fixed rates vary between €15 and €45 depending on the area of the city.
