The Phoenix Association warns that animal welfare is at stake without more people to help with its fundraising efforts
The Phoenix Association, one of the first English-speaking animal rescue charities to be formed in France, is looking for volunteers.
Annual book fair
Every year it runs the Great Phoenix Book Fair in Dordogne, south-west France which raises tens of thousands of euros to help fund the animals in its care, as well as around 10 other animal charities in France.
The fair’s popularity is increasing every year, with around 1,000 people in attendance, but the association is struggling to manage due to a lack of volunteers.
“The book fairs are the major source for funds used for animal welfare across the region,” said membership administrator Madeleine Bath.
Stark warning
“However, without new volunteers they may cease. At the very least, they will be reduced in size. Animal welfare will suffer from the reduction in funds.”
If you live in the Dordogne area and want to help, contact members.phoenix@gmail.com.
