Product recalls in France: Drain cleaner and bottled water
Faulty caps and pesticide issues are cited as the causes
Product recall appeals for two products have been launched in France, for a drain cleaner and a bottled water brand.
The drain cleaner, of the ‘Spado’ brand, is being recalled for a faulty screw cap, which can affect the child safety screw cap.
If the product comes into contact with skin, it can cause external injuries and burning.
It was sold in most major supermarket chains across France, as well as in DIY stores, between 2017 and 2024.
Any product with the GTIN code 3172350122002 is concerned, and refunds will be available from the point of purchase until May 14.
More information can be found here, on the official RappelConso recall site.
Water ‘still safe to drink’
Bottled water brand ‘Fiée des Lois’ (also sold under the ‘Premiers prix’ range) at Intermarché, is also subject to a recall.
This is due to the presence of a pesticide in the water that is bottled by the company in the Deux-Sèvres department.
However, the company said “there is no risk to consumer health”, and there has not been an official recall for products already sold through RappelConso.
Products have been instead pulled from shelves, and are no longer purchasable.
The pesticide in question is a fungicide, banned by the EU in 2020, that some believe seeped into the wellsprings from where the water is sourced.
