Customs, paperwork: How can I get help relocating from UK to France?
Since Brexit, there have been significant changes to consider when moving between the two countries
Reader question: Are there companies that help with relocation from the UK to France, especially regarding paperwork? M.C.
It depends which aspects you are looking for help with but, for example, if you want to avoid problems with customs paperwork related to moving over, probably the simplest solution is to use a UK removals company that advertises its international expertise.
There are a number of companies which specialise in European removals, and they should be able to guide you through the different steps.
There have been significant changes, post-Brexit, but firms still doing regular runs from the UK to France should now be familiar with the paperwork. You will need to discuss with them what you are bringing over, and make an inventory.
There are no French taxes to pay in the case of a permanent move to France but you have to complete the correct formalities to ensure this applies.
With regard to other paperwork aspects of ‘getting into the system’ in France, there are several English-language services in France offering such help.
You can find examples of these, and removals firms, advertising in The Connexion and especially in the Business Directory section.
