This historic fortress is said to hold a world record

The royal fortress of Najac was built in 1253.

It has arrow slits tall enough (6.8m) to allow three or four archers to fire from – making them, some say, the tallest in the world.

Najac is known for its historic buildings and medieval character complete with typical timber-framed houses.
