Letters: Calls for Macron to resign do not help French politics

To the Editor,
There is no point whatsoever in President Macron resigning.
Any new president would have to live with what is proving to be a totally dysfunctional Assemblée Nationale, incapable of forming coalitions - they should look to their neighbours in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and then get their act together.
New legislation elections (Assemblée Nationale) cannot be organised before July 2025 as that is the constitutional situation following the dissolution and snap elections in July this year.
So please stop banging on about the President resigning - that will not really help to solve the present problems.
Just for the record, I voted for Macron in 2017 and again in 2022 but was horrified last June when he announced his decision to call a snap election - probably the biggest mistake of all time.
It is done now and the politicians should show some maturity by getting their act together to make the Assemblée Nationale a workable and working part of government.
