2024-25 dates for ski slopes to open in French Alps and Pyrenees
Most resorts are set to be open before Christmas, with the first opening next month

The dates for the opening of the major French ski stations and resorts have now been published, starting with Chamonix, Val Thorens, and Tignes on November 23.
Many popular stations will open at the end of November, and by Christmas (December 25), almost all of the major sites will be operating.
Three are set to open after Christmas, Flumet/St-Nicolas la Chapelle (December 27), two of which have stated their opening dates will be in January: Gérardmer on January 4, and Serre-Eyraud on January 18.
The dates announced come directly from the stations, but they are conditional on weather conditions and the snowfall received.
It comes after ski stations in France have had chequered success over the past few years. They were hit hard by the Covid pandemic restrictions, and some struggled to recover due to mild weather and lack of snowfall at lower altitudes in 2022-23.
The 2023-24 season was an improvement in most places, however, with heavy snowfall boosting the season in January 2024.
