A national alert has been raised after a 17-day old baby boy was kidnapped from a hospital in the Paris suburbs last night.

The baby, named Santiago, was taken from the maternity ward of the Robert Ballanger hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis.

The baby was taken last night (October 21) between 23:00 and 23:30, the Interior Ministry said.

The baby was born prematurely and constant medical care is essential for his survival, it adds.

The parents of the baby, pictured above, are the main suspects. The Interior Ministry gave the following description:

“a man aged 23, dressed in dark jeans, a white T-shirt, a light blue denim jacket and a black overcoat, and a woman aged 25, dressed in a white jumper, a light blue sleeveless jacket and a green skirt.”

Santiago, who has blonde hair, was wearing a brown t-shirt (for ages 6 months and under) and thick white velvet pyjamas.

Anyone who comes across the parents should not intervene themselves but call 197 (the national alert number) immediately, or email the Interior Ministry’s alert team at pppj.alerte.enlevement@interieur.gouv.
