Best and worst prices for fibre internet in France revealed

Comparison site Ariase has revealed the highest and lowest internet prices in France, with over €10 difference in monthly costs between providers

Bouygues Telecom has emerged as the cheapest provider of fibre internet in France, the latest figures from price comparison site Ariase show.

While Bouygues offer an average monthly fibre subscription for €23.99, the most expensive comparable offer is over €10 higher, at €34.53 from Free.

The second most expensive is from Orange at €34.16 per month, followed by SFR, Sosh (Orange’s low-cost offering) and Red (SFR’s low cost-offering). Monthly averages are calculated from a base of a 24-month, entry-level subscription for new customers and include activation fees.

Fibre internet prices rising

Overall prices have risen 9% in the past year, from an average of €26 to €28.35 per month.

But additional costs can add up. Services such as additional channels, house surveillance and on-demand streaming services can greatly increase monthly costs.

The Live Box Up offer from Orange, for example, costs €69.99 per month but comes with Netflix, OCS, connected home features and more.

Cheapest mobile provider revealed

Bouygues was also the cheapest mobile provider with an average monthly cost of €14.41 for a 24-month contract with unlimited calls and 10 gigabytes of data.

Orange and SFR were once again the most expensive providers for similar offers.

Telecoms authority Arcep has found that Orange has provided the highest quality mobile service in France for the past 10 years, improving coverage and mobile connexion quality in the past year. SFR has also made strong efforts to improve its mobile network.

On average monthly mobile costs have risen 3% in the past year, from €19 to €19.50.
