Best restaurant in world is in France, say Tripadvisor reviews
The eaterie’s original dishes, top-notch service and beautiful setting were all praised

A three Michelin-starred restaurant in central-southeast France has been named the best restaurant in the world by online review and booking platform Tripadvisor.
Restaurant Pic (its chef is Anne-Sophie Pic) in Valence (Drôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) was named the “Best of the Best” in the platform’s 2024 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Restaurants Awards.
Restaurant Pic has more than 3,000 reviews on the site, and an overall perfect score of five out of five. It has a score of 4.8 for food, 4.8 for service, 4.7 for atmosphere, and 4.3 for value.
The restaurant offers two set menu options; one of seven courses at lunchtime during the week, and another of 10 courses at lunch and dinner all week long. The first is €310 without drinks, and the second is €410 without drinks.
The first offers non-alcoholic drinks pairing for €100, a drinks flight with wine and alcohol for €160, and a rare drinks flight with wine and alcohol for €320. The second option offers the same, at €160, €250, and €500 respectively. This means that for the 10-course menu with the rare wine option, a diner could pay as much as €910 per person.

On her Instagram account, Ms Pic wrote “I dedicate [this win] to our customers who, through their glowing reviews, have enabled us to achieve this first place.”
She added that the accolade was a reward for “years of passion, rigour, and a perpetual quest for excellence to provide our guests with an exceptional experience”.
“It reflects the commitment and hard work of everyone at Restaurant Pic, where authenticity, innovation and a love of cooking never cease to inspire us.”
Ms Pic took over the family restaurant in 1997, and won the top three Michelin stars rating in 2007.
The website describes the chef’s creations as “characterised by their combination of flavours, powerful tastes and delicate expression”.
Restaurant Pic is not Ms Pic’s only restaurant. Along with her husband, she established the Pic group, which operates sites in Lausanne, Paris, London, and Dubai. All are Michelin-starred.

Three other French restaurants feature in Tripadvisor’s 2024 Top 10.

La Tour d'Argent in Paris (6th place, one Michelin star)
Leclère Cuisine d'Arrivage in Montpellier, Hérault (7th place, one Michelin star)
Other restaurants in the top 10 include Restaurante 1621 in Cartagena, Colombia (second place), the Michelin-starred Northcote Restaurant in Langho, UK (third place), and the Michelin-starred Casa Vigil in Mendoza, Argentina (fourth place).
