Call for ‘Journées du matrimoine’
A Frenchwoman suggests rebranding in the name of equality
Advertisment
The name for the French ‘Journées du patrimoine’ heritage days could receive a change to include ‘matrimoine’ in the name of equality if a new proposal goes ahead.
Joëlle Morel, of the Europe-Ecologie-Les Verts party in Paris, suggested that the word ‘matrimoine’ should be included in the lexicon to honour the achievements made by women across history, as well as using ‘patrimoine’ to celebrate those by men.
