Canal du Midi event aims to ride 650km across France to the Mediterranean
Cyclists taking part in the cross-France cancer charity challenge to ride from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean are settling down to the task with a group of six who started in Royan aiming to do the whole route to Marseillan Plage.
Their first day’s ride saw them cycle 100km from Royan to Blaye in the 650km sponsored event for Cancer Support France.
They headed off this morning for La Réole in Gironde and would welcome any supporters who come out to cheer them on along the Canal du Midi. Find the route on the Canal Des Deux Mers cycle route website, canaldes2mersavelo.com
More riders will join at intermediate halts which also take in Agen, Montech, Toulouse, Castelnaudary, Carcassonne, Le Somail, Marseillan and Agde. In all, about 32 riders will take part in the event which should reach the Mediterranean by May 31.
Connexion will be following their progress with regular updates on the website and if you want to contact someone from Cancer Support France, check its website for details of your nearest group.
