Car driving in the wrong direction causes 52km jam in south-west France

A car driving in the wrong direction caused a 52km traffic jam on the A62 motorway in south-west France this morning. The driver was stopped by police half an hour after they had been notified. No injuries have been reported.

The vehicle was seen at 07:00 on Monday morning (September 30) driving against the flow of traffic on the A62 near Montauban, Tarn-et-Garonne in the direction of Toulouse, Haute-Garonne.

Police were dispatched to intercept it, stopping the driver at 7:30 near the intersection of the A20 and the A62. 

The chaos caused a 52km traffic jam and one accident, according to local media. However no injuries have been reported.
