Predictions for sun, storm, rain and temperatures across the next five days by area

Temperatures will drop around 2C below the national average, with snow forecast in France's hills and mountains
Published Modified

Bitter winter winds will move across France this week, bringing temperatures down across the board, but also providing ample snowfall to the mountainous regions.

Weather conditions will be more unstable in the south, however the north will see plenty of sun despite the chill.

Monday November 11

Monday – a public holiday with many Armistice Day remembrance events – will be grey for many.

Cloudy skies will move from north to south throughout the day, although in the morning it will be sunny in the south-east.

Showers are expected in the east, where coincidentally highs of around 8C or 9C are likely, the lowest in the country.

Elsewhere, there will potentially be showers in the north late at night, but the rest of France is expected to remain dry.

Temperatures are unlikely to pass 20C anywhere, although will get close along the Mediterranean coast, which is still experiencing warmer than average temperatures.

Tuesday November 12

Cold winds from Germany will begin to arrive on Tuesday, pushing out the previously calm conditions that were keeping temperatures in France up.

The winds will push from the eastern border towards Spain, bringing rainfall to the east, and potentially storms to the south-east.

Temperatures will drop by around 4C where winds are strongest.

HIghs of 13C in Brittany, the south-west, and the Mediterranean, and 16C in Nice are outliers, with most other places set to experience highs of 11C or below.

The national average temperature will drop by around 2C, becoming colder than average for the first time in a number of weeks.

Conversely, the winds will push the grey skies out from the north, leading to sunny skies, even if temperatures will not rise alongside.

Wednesday November 13

Temperatures will continue to drop in the south as the cold German winds dominate, bringing snow to altitudes of 1,200m and higher, particularly in the Alps.

It will be mostly sunny, with rain only expected in the Pyrénées, although this may turn stormy.

Some sleet is expected along the English Channel, but this is unlikely to penetrate from the coast into Normandy.

Thursday November 14

Temperatures will drop to their coldest on Thursday, reaching a national average of 6.7C.

This is nearly 2C lower than averages for the season, and the lowest so far of the 2024/2025 autumn and winter.

Morning temperatures may be below 0C in some parts of central-eastern France, and north of Lyon, failing to reach above 8C throughout the course of the day in those regions.

In the south, highs of 15C are still expected in Toulouse, Montpellier, and Nice, but will drop quickly as evening comes along.

Friday November 15

The end of the week will see typical conditions return, with a sunny, warmer south and cloudier, cooler north.

Rain may push up from Spain into the Mediterranean, however, affecting the southern coast.

Early weekend forecasts see a calm Saturday, however most of the country will be impacted by sustained rainfall on Sunday.
