Dordogne petrol tank accidentally pumps diesel
Over 30 cars have broken down in the Dordogne after a Leclerc petrol station accidentally supplied diesel from an unleaded petrol pump.
The cars began to break down after filling up their petrol tanks at the Leclerc de Périgueux petrol station between last Thursday and Friday morning, as reported France Bleu Périgord.
After this, over 30 customers returned to complain that their vehicles would no longer start.
Investigations showed that one of the petrol station’s transporters had accidentally poured over 2,000 litres of diesel into the unleaded 95-E10 tank.
It is thought that even more vehicles must be affected, because many more customers had used the pump over the time in question.
Leclerc has advised all affected customers to come to the Leclerc stores in in Périgueux and Trélissac, where they will be referred to the petrol transporter’s insurance company.
The transporter has accepted its error, and will take care to reimburse all affected customers for their petrol tank as well as the cost of repairing their broken cars.
There is no suggestion that any other Leclerc petrol stations have been affected by the error.
