Popular driving and navigation app Waze has been updated in France in a bid to make journey time predictions and traffic updates more accurate.

The new version of the app, Waze, 4.107, aims to fix a major bug that was affecting people who used the app on iOS (Apple; iPhones) and the in-car system, CarPlay. The bug meant that journeys were not always showing accurate arrival times, journey lengths, or traffic predictions.

It has an additional feature that can alert drivers to the ‘right time to leave’ to have the smoothest, quickest journey - but this was not working properly either.

This new update is aiming to solve these issues and will apply to iOS users of the app in France.

Most phones will update apps downloaded from the App Store automatically, but some users will need to check that they have the latest version, and update the app manually.

To do this on an iPhone:

  • Tap the App Store icon to open the App Store

  • Tap on your profile ‘circle’ photo to the top right

  • Tap Apps, then My Apps >

  • Scroll down to Waze, or search for Waze in the search bar at the top

  • If the app says “Open”, it is updated to the most recent version.

  • If it says “Update”, you need to update it. Tap “Update” and follow the on-screen instructions.
