Flu has reached epidemic level in all regions of France according to data released by the French public health authority, while the number of Covid-19 cases remain at a low level.

The flu epidemic affects all age groups, says the weekly report by Santé publique France published on December 26, with symptoms of low to medium intensity.

Children under the age of 15 are the most affected by this year’s seasonal flu epidemic, however the week saw a marked increase in emergency room visits and hospital admissions among those aged 65 and over.

“All indicators point to a growing circulation of influenza cases in the general population,” says the report.

There are two strains behind the current epidemic, the report states: an A (H1N1) and B influenza virus.
