French car-makers at top as sales rise 3%

French car-makers are still leading in their home market and saw sales rise 3% in the first six months of this year exceeding forecasts.

Renault accounted for a quarter of the 1.3million new cars purchased so far and PSA, which owns Peugeot and Citroën, took another quarter.

Although pollution scares hit the diesel market, sales fell less than expected, by just 5% to make up half of new vehicles.
