French supermarkets recall packs of smoked duck over listeria risk
The Clos Saint-Sozy and Maitres Occitans brands of sliced smoked magret de canard could contain bacteria linked to the infection
Smoked magret de canard produced by Clos Saint-Sozy and Maitres Occitans is being recalled by several French supermarket chains.
These include Auchan, Carrefour, Spar, Intermarché, Leclerc, Simply, Super U and Hyper U.

Government recall alert service Rappel Conso states that these products could contain Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria behind listeria.
Rappel Conso adds that this infection can have serious consequences for pregnant women and newborn babies, as well as people with a weakened immune system, and that the incubation period can last up to 28 days.

For the Clos Saint-Sozy magret de canard, products displaying the GTIN number – the 13-digit figure found beneath the barcode – 3443705002400, 3443705062176, 3443705024150, 3443704408067 or 3443705002264 are concerned.
As well as in some supermarkets, these duck products were also sold from this list of retailers.
The Maitres Occitans magret de canard being recalled bears the GTIN numbers 3443705058629 and 3443704408197. The shops which sell this product can be found here.
Finally, two unbranded batches of magret de canard carrying the codes 3443704408005 and 3443704408227 are also concerned. These are normally sold in butcher’s shops.
The use-by date for all of these products was December 13.
“People who have consumed the products mentioned above and who experience a fever, whether isolated or accompanied by a headache, and muscle aches, are encouraged to consult their GP and report having eaten” themagret de canard, Rappel Conso states.
The recall will last until January 3, until which time customers will be refunded the cost of the product should they return it.
