Many roads around the country are expected to be extremely busy this weekend in the run-up to France’s national July 14 holiday, with southbound travel from major cities particularly affected.

The second weekend of the summer break coincides with France’s national holiday on Sunday, meaning that people going away to the beach resorts will jostle with those going on short breaks to celebrate Bastille Day.

The forecasts are from the state traffic service Bison Futé.
