Memorial to slavery

A memorial to commemorate the end of slavery in France in 1848 and a foundation to work to end modern-day slavery are to be set up.
The memorial at Paris Hôtel de la Marine will follow another in Nantes, the leading slaver port ahead of Bordeaux. No museum is planned in a bid to maintain focus on the one in Guadeloupe.
