Time running out for S1 applications

Britons living in France and intending to obtain an S1 form for healthcare based on having some UK exportable disability related benefits must apply for it before the end of 2020.

After this, it will no longer be possible to apply based on having DLA, PIP, CA, or AA.

Means test to return to UK with EU family

The UK’s Immigration Bill is now law and families with mixed British and EU nationality members will face means tests if wishing to move back to the UK after March 2022.

A Briton will have to show, at current rates, income of at least £18,600 if bringing an EU-nationality spouse or partner to live with them, plus £3,800 for a first dependent non-British child and £2,400 for others.

EU citizenship court case to be heard

The EU’s General Court has agreed to hear full arguments next year in a case which says the effects of Brexit are unfair to Britons as they will not maintain an identical status to EU citizens. For example, they must apply for cards and will have no local election vote.

Barrister Julien Fouchet, acting for Britons including Harry Shindler from Italy, believes it is possible to annul Brexit or, if not, improve rights of Britons established in the EU.
