Nice: Coastal paths and parks closed today due to strong winds
Gusts of up to 80km/h are expected along the coastline this morning, but the conditions should be calmer this afternoon
Green spaces around Nice will be closed today (March 1) to protect people against strong winds of up to 80km/h.
The Ville de Nice has announced that it has “closed off access to the coastal path and has decided not to open parks and gardens in the town as a security measure.
The wind should die down this afternoon and the mairie added that it “is following the situation closely and could reopen access depending on how it evolves.”
State weather service Météo France has not issued a weather alert for Alpes-Maritimes, but is predicting high winds across the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur coastline this morning.
By this afternoon, wind speeds should have fallen to around 15km/h around Nice and Cannes, but could remain at around 45km/h near Toulon.
