Ferry crossings between the UK and France are disrupted today (February 27) as French port workers go on strike.
Services between Dover and Calais are particularly affected as workers at the French port declared a port mort (dead port) operation, with companies including DFDS and P&O warning of severe disruption.
Passengers set to travel today are being warned to check for updates with their operator and ensure booking details on their form are correct so they can be informed of any changes.
Roads around Calais, including the A16 are set to face heavy traffic as freight ships are also impacted by the strike and unable to load goods.
Other services between Portsmouth and Le Havre/Caen scheduled by Brittany Ferries have also been cancelled, although it is not clear if this is related to French industrial action.
You can check the operator’s live timetable for future changes.

All in all, over 10 ports are affected by the one-day strike, including Nantes, Rouen, and Marseille Fos.
Port workers are striking over working conditions – asking for extra days of paid leave – as well as an overturning of the 2023 pension reforms.
It follows several full and partial days of strike action by dockworkers since the start of 2025, with unions warning further action may be held in March.
