Month of special offers include €29 international tickets and discounts on railcards

Discount high-speed train tickets are available as part of the end of summer sale

French national rail operator SNCF is offering a month of discounts on both international and domestic routes throughout September.

The ‘traincroyables’ promotion – a portmanteau of the words train and incroyables [incredible] – will run until September 30, with offers available on a first come, first served basis.

Promotions – including capped ticket prices for high-speed trains, discounts on rail cards, or cheaper journeys to international destinations – will run for three to four days at a time, before a new offer takes its place.

These special offers are available to everybody via the SNCF website, and are not limited to certain railcard holders.

What discounts are available?

The first offer is an €80 discount on the Carte Liberté, bringing the price down to €299 for all travellers, including those without a professional work contract (a special letter from your company is usually required to receive the discount).

This card offers 100% flexible tickets that can be exchanged or reimbursed even after a train departs, fixed prices on many routes, and discounts on upgrades to business class.

The next offer, available on September 4 and 5, will see 200,000 tickets on OuiGo (low-cost, high-speed trains) sold for €19.

Regional tickets on local TER trains will be available for €2 in some regions, and discounted in others including Normandy, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Hauts-de-France, and Brittany.

International TGV tickets to Spain, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland will go on sale between September 18 and 29, with tickets starting at €39.

Tickets between stations in the south of France (Montpellier, Nîmes, Valence) to Spain will be available for €29 one-way.

Finally, high-speed TGV InOui trains, and Intercités routes will go on sale between September 23 and 27, with tickets beginning from €29 and €19 respectively.

You can find out which deals are currently running, as well as upcoming promotions, on the dedicated SNCF page. You will also find a direct link to purchase the discount railcard or tickets on the website.
