France’s spring 2025 Covid vaccination booster campaign launches next week with a focus on preventing a spread of cases among elderly and vulnerable people.

The campaign offers booster doses of the Covid vaccine to people deemed most at risk in preparation before summer.

France’s leading health authority (Haute Autorité de Santé, HAS) recommended the campaign in light of an expected spike of summer cases.

It will run from Monday April 14 to Saturday June 15

Who is the campaign for?

The campaign is less extensive than the winter version, which is now combined with the flu vaccination campaign.

Several key groups are targeted by the campaign and have been recommended to receive a spring booster jab:

  • People aged 80 and up

  • Immunocompromised people of all ages

  • People living in Ehpads (elderly care homes) or USLD (long-term care units) of all ages

  • Any person at very high risk according to the opinion of healthcare professionals

However, anyone who wishes to get a booster for Covid can also make an appointment if they wish.

People should not have a booster vaccine if they have received a Covid jab in the previous six months – however this is reduced to three months for people over 80 as well as any immunocompromised person

There is no cost to receive the booster.

Where can I get a booster vaccine?

People in Ehpads and USLD care units will be able to receive the jab at the facility they reside in, with healthcare professionals coming to give them on-location.

For others, the jab can be given by GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and at hospitals.
