Heightened weather warnings are in place for heavy rain and flash flooding as storm Aitor continues to batter France today (September 26).
Six departments are now on a tier-three orange weather alert for heavy rain: Corrèze, Jura, Isère, Ain, Savoie, and Haute-Savoie.
Up to 80 mm of rain is predicted to fall in the next 24 hours around the Alps and mountainous east.
Elsewhere, dozens of departments are on a tier-two yellow alert for heavy rain, storms, strong winds, and river flooding.
Currently, only parts of Brittany, Occitanie, Corsica, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine are free of weather warnings.

Rainfall is set to cover much of France throughout the day as the storm continues.
Strong winds of up to 80 km/h are also expected across the north and centre.
The storm should decrease in intensity by tomorrow (September 27), as the storm calms overnight.
Yesterday, some parts of Normandy and central France saw 50 mm of rainfall in 24 hours, reaching close to an entire month’s worth of rainfall.
You can keep up with all weather warnings via the official Météo France website.
Alerts are likely to change as the storm progresses.
