TotalEnergies announces summer fuel discount on French motorways
The scheme would take ‘at least 10 centimes’ off the price of fuel at all of the company’s motorway services over July and August

TotalEnergies has announced that it is planning to implement a fuel discount at its motorway service stations this summer, to help customers cope with the rising cost of petrol and diesel.
The company had already introduced a 10-centime-per-litre discount at all of its French petrol stations on April 1, but this will come to an end on May 15.
So, TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné, said: “We are thinking, this summer, of taking special measures with regards to motorway [fuel] prices for everyone in France.”
He added that the discount would “undoubtedly be at least 10 centimes” in all TotalEnergies motorway services.
“We will most notably be helping holidaymakers who are travelling this summer for breaks.”
The exact dates of the new discount scheme have not yet been finalised, but it should run for the months of July and August.
TotalEnergies’ summer discount will overlap for a time with the government’s 18-centime-per-litre discount on all road fuels, which will continue until July 31.
The government is then planning to replace this measure with more targeted support for people on low incomes who depend heavily on their vehicles.

Fuel prices are continuing to creep upwards in France; SP98 and SP95 are hovering around €1.80-€1.90 per litre – government discount included – and diesel is topping €1.90 per litre.
