The site of a crashed plane near Mont Blanc became an unusual pilgrimage for skiers in the Alps last weekend, who used the wreckage to perform tricks.

A small single engine plane made an emergency crash landing in the Vallée Blanche on February 28 due to unknown issues after departing from nearby Megève airport.

The two passengers were taken to a nearby hospital after sustaining non-fatal injuries in the crash.

However, the wreckage of the plane was not salvaged until March 3, leaving a noticeable mark on the otherwise pristine white landscape of the valley.

Skiers began gravitating towards it on their descent down the valley, stopping for photos and to take videos.

These skiers are already going off-piste down the mountain (not following a pre-set trail), and used the plane as an background aid for tricks on their skis and snowboards.

You can see a video detailing some of these below.

The plane was airlifted out of the valley by the Chamonix Mont-Blanc Hélicoptères on Monday, March 3.
