Cities across France celebrated France's national day (July 14) this weekend in style, with firework displays and parties galore.

Festivities took place on both the evening of July 13, as well as on the day itself, but the most impressive scenes were to be found in Paris last night, when a dazzling light show illuminated the Eiffel Tower.

In addition to the usual fireworks, the show also employed the use of around 1,000 drones, to light up Paris’ skies and provide intricate figures.

You can see a full video of the 20-minute display on YouTube below:

The theme of this year’s display was a celebration of not only Paris, but also of the values of the Olympic Games, coinciding with events elsewhere across the city earlier in the day.

On top of the traditional July 14 military parade – which was re-routed down the Avenue Foch as opposed to the traditional Champs-Élysées due to Olympic preparations – the Olympic Torch also arrived in the city yesterday.

The Torch arrived at the Paris’ town hall in the evening, carried the final part of the way by former tennis player Yannick Noah, and an overnight vigil was held there, open to the public.

A series of free shows and events relating to the Olympics were also held.

The full three-hour military parade can be seen in the video below:
