Volunteers wanted to improve Battle plans
Producers of annual performance of historic Hundred Years' War battle seek volunteer actors for 2018 shows
If you fancy yourself a bit of a thespian and live near Castillon-la-Bataille, in northern Gironde, you are invited to join in this year's production of the annual Battle Of Castillon.
The famous battle, in 1453, ended the Hundred Years' War. For the past 40 years, a show has recreated the story surrounding the historic event.
Over time, the production has grown and now boasts 700 actors at every performance. This year, the show will be staged on 15 evenings between July 20 and August 25.
Producers have launched their annual bit to recruit between 100 and 150 volunteer performers each year to ensure that the show will go on. Acting, dance - and even theatrical fencing classes - are available to selected performers free of charge, while historically accurate costumes will be provided.
They also promise a unique experience, rich in memories, emotions, and new friendships.
Anyone - with or without acting experience is invited to meet director Eric Le Collen, assistant Jan-Luc Delage and the other members of the troupe at 9.30am on Sunday, March 4, at the salle des fêtes in Belvès-de-Castillon.
