Warm and dry: Weather in France this week November 4 - 8

Predictions for sun, storm, rain and temperatures across the next five days by area

It is the second week straight where the majority of the country will be free of rain
Published Modified

France is set for a second exceptionally calm week, with temperatures sitting above the seasonal average and rain only forecast for one area.

Monday November 4

Monday will be calm, although cloudy in the north-west for much of the day.

Temperatures in the south will reach up to 20C and slightly higher in the south-east.

In the north, they will average closer to 15C, except in the north-west where they will be tempered by the presence of clouds, and be closer to 12C.

Highs of around 8C are expected in Strasbourg, which will be particularly chilly, including at night.

Tuesday November 5

Tuesday will be cloudier, with most of north and central France experiencing partially or fully clouded skies.

Rain will fall in the Languedoc-Roussillon area – the only place set to see rain this week – mostly along the coastline. The rain will continue until Friday but will not be heavy with around 50 mm set to fall cumulatively over the four days.

The national average temperature will be 14C, the highest of the week, as the south sees highs of 20C and the north (and north-west) of between 15C and 18C throughout the day.

It will be, on average, 3C higher than usual for early November.

Wednesday November 6

Wednesday will remain much the same in terms of temperatures, although mornings will begin to become progressively foggier, with the fog remaining in place for longer.

State forecaster Météo France has not issued any warnings over driving conditions due to fog, but drivers should be careful regardless.

As a reminder, drivers in mountainous communes should now have snow tyres (or acceptable alternatives) fitted and risk a fine if they have not done so.

Thursday November 7

Similar conditions are expected on Thursday, although the far north and east will be chillier than at the beginning of the week, closer to 10C than 15C.

Skies will be cloudy in central and northern France, but clear elsewhere.

Friday November 8

The week will end largely as it began with mostly clear skies, especially in the south, where highs of 22C are expected in the south-west.

This may be the heaviest day for rain in the south, although it is not predicted to move inland or along the coast from where it began falling at the beginning of the week.

The higher-than-average temperatures should remain into next week, however early forecasts predict Atlantic rain moving inland reaching much of the western coast on Saturday (November 9), including Brittany and Bordeaux.
