Watch: ‘Shooting star’ meteor lights up Paris and Rouen skies
The accurate prediction of the bright meteor has also been hailed as a sign of ‘major progress’ in asteroid detection capabilities
A bright ‘shooting star’ that was seen over Paris at around 04:00 last night (Sunday, February 12) was a small meteor around a metre wide, the European Space Agency (ESA) has said.
The object entered the atmosphere and burned up, causing the impressive light.

The ESA said: “This is only the seventh time that the appearance [of a meteor like this] has been predicted before it happens. A real sign of major progress in the global detection of asteroids!”
A video from Le Havre, northern France, also shows just how bright the meteor was across the night sky as it burned up.
