Weather in France October 28 - November 1: Forecast by area this week

Warm afternoon temperatures and a dry week is expected. Predictions for sun, storm, rain and temperatures across the next 5 days

It is set to be the driest week in over a year in France
Published Modified

It will be an exceptionally calm week in France, with warmer than average temperatures and clear skies due to an anticyclone from the Atlantic.

Currently, not a single drop of rain is forecast to hit France, except near Perpignan. Most of Europe will experience a dry week, with the exception of Spain.

It is expected to be the driest week in over a year in France, with the last time such little rain fell being at the beginning of October 2023.

Monday October 28

Despite the lack of rain, a weaker autumn sun has less strength to dissipate morning clouds and fog, meaning in some areas it will still be cloudy.

This will be the case on Monday, particularly along the western coastline and in the east, where foggy weather will transform into cloudy skies and remain this way for much of the day.

Temperatures will be on average 2C higher than the national average for this time, close to 15C.

Stormy weather in the Mediterranean will potentially push rainfall into the Pyrénées-Orientales department.

Tuesday October 29

Conditions will remain the same for much of the week from Tuesday onwards, as the anticyclone settles over France.

The south will be sunny, with the north experiencing cloudy weather, but temperatures will still remain higher than average.

Rainfall will come into the Pyrénées-Orientals department across the Catalan border, depending on how the weather progresses in Spain.

However, this rainfall may help alleviate drought conditions in the area.

It is one of the last places to still be facing drought restrictions, as the plentiful rainfall of the previous 12 months did not reach the region. It has been facing drought conditions for over two years.

Wednesday October 30

Temperatures will hover between 15C and 18C in the afternoon, rising to around 20C along the Mediterranean.

Foggy skies in the north will persist into the afternoon, but it is not expected to be strong enough to cause any adverse effects for drivers.

Thursday October 31

Similar weather conditions will persist, although the difference in morning and afternoon temperatures may become more varied.

The arrival of the mild weather means temperatures are significantly higher than average in the afternoons.

In the mornings and evenings however the lack of sun sees temperatures quickly return to average levels, and particularly at night can catch some off guard.

In particularly cloudy areas, such as Alsace and the Saône valley, temperatures may remain cooler throughout the day, struggling to reach 10C.

Friday November 1

The Toussaint bank holiday will again be mild, however temperatures will drop, being around 2C cooler than at the beginning of the week.

Sunny weather will persist.

Early forecasts for the weekend sees similar weather, with the exception of showers in Normandy.
