Can American citizens living in UK travel to France?
Does anyone know for certain if and when Americans resident in the UK/Channel Islands will be allowed to travel to France?
Residents in the UK are allowed to travel to France, even if they have American nationality.
It is the place you are travelling from that counts not your nationality in this situation.
The borders remain closed to Americans who are travelling from the US until further notice.
European residents with American nationality including UK residents can travel to France, said a government helpline worker.
Since the UK enforced a quarantine for all arrivals, including returning Britons, France applies a voluntary quarantine for visitors coming from the UK.
But this quarantine remains on a voluntary basis and you will still be able to go out. There will not be any checks, and the quarantine is not obligatory if you have no symptoms of Covid-19, the government helpline worker said.
The position is expected to change this week as the quarantine requirements between France and the UK are set to be lifted. This is because France is expected to be one of the countries with which the UK will be setting up a ‘travel corridor’.
This is yet to be officially announced but it is expected this week.
