Daily reading for primary children
New plans in primary education
Primary school children will be given daily reading and comprehension lessons in new plans to improve their skills that also include more tests and restrictions on the textbooks that teachers can use.
Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer laid out the new plans after a global study showed French children’s reading levels were poorer than they were in 2000. The children tested had started school in 2008 when new education methods were brought in.
