Decathlon recalls faulty bikes sold across France

Bikes were sold online but can be returned to stores for repairs or a refund

Major sportswear and equipment retailer Decathlon has recalled a series of bikes over faulty manufacturing. 

The bikes, which belonged to the Van Rysel brand, are all cross-country models (XCR) and may have a problem with one of the carbon parts of their basebar.

The faulty part could rupture, causing riders to lose control and crash.

They were sold exclusively online between August 14 and September 18.

The following bikes are subject to the recall which has been announced by national consumer watchdog RappelConso.

  • 4696570 XCR UCI S

  • 4696569 XCR UCI XS

  • 4698757 XCR UCI X

  • 4698755 XCR UCI L

  • 4698754 XCR UCI M

All the bikes have the same model code (8772688). 

Bikes with the following GTIN (bar-code) are affected: 

  • 3583787294185

  • 3583787294208

  • 3583787294215

  • 3583787294222

  • 3583787294307

If you have purchased one of the faulty bikes, you have until April 10, 2025 to take it to a Decathlon store in France, where you can either receive a full refund or have the faulty part repaired.
