Do I need a Covid health control form to drive from France to Spain?
The paperwork required to enter Spain differs depending on if you are travelling by plane, ferry or car

Reader question: We are planning to visit friends in Spain for a short break and intend to drive across the border from France. What are the rules in this situation?
Passengers arriving in Spain by ferry or plane must fill out a form called a Health Control Form, which is similar to the UK’s passenger locator form and gives details about their stay so they can be contacted in case of coming into contact with a Covid case.
This form can be completed online at this link (it is available in English). There is a separate form for those travelling by ferry. Passengers will receive a QR code that they must show to travel authorities.
Anyone entering Spain by ferry or plane must fill out one of these forms. It is valid for a single trip. Adults can fill out a form on behalf of minors or dependents.
However, this form is not needed for people entering Spain by road.
You can read more about the rules for travelling from France to Spain and Italy in our article here.
Aside from the Health Control Form, travellers to Spain should show proof of being fully vaccinated against Covid with an EU-approved vaccine. This can be in paper or digital format, or shown through a phone application, such as France’s TousAntiCovid.
If the traveller is not fully vaccinated, they will need a certificate proving they have recovered from Covid in the past six months, or a negative rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours of travelling or a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of travelling.
Covid vaccine and test certificates issued in France are accepted in Spain.
