A grant to replace coal, oil or gas-fired boilers, including condensation boilers, with more efficient models has been maintained.

The Coup de pouce chauffage grant will be available throughout 2025, and there are now larger grants for people on “modest” incomes.

Acceptable replacements are heat pumps; hybrid systems combining heat pumps and condensation boilers; combined solar systems providing hot water and an insulated storage tank; joining a communal heating system using renewable energy; or installing high-performance wood stove.

Beneficiaries must own or rent a property built before 2023 and which is their main residence.

Grant threshold

Grant amounts vary depending on the sort of work done and the beneficiary’s income.

In order to qualify as having a “modest” income in 2025, the declared tax revenue for 2023 is taken into account, alongside the number of people in the household and the property’s location.

Applicants in Ile-de-France are allowed a higher declared revenue than elsewhere in the country to qualify.

For one person, the threshold is €28,933 in Ile-de-France, compared to €22,015 elsewhere.

Couples need incomes of below €42,463 in Ile-de-France and €32,197 elsewhere.

The threshold rises on a sliding scale up to a five-person household up to a threshold of €68,123 in Ile-de-France and €51,775 elsewhere.

The bonus is generous for people who fit the “modest” income qualification with a minimum grant of €4,000 for high-performance biomass boilers and most heat pumps, and €5,000 for a combined solar system or a geothermic heat pump system.

Collective heating system

To join a communal heating system using renewable energy, the grant is at least €700, and for high-performance wood stove, at least €800.

People who earn more have minimum grants of €2,500 for biomass boilers, air/water heat pumps, and hybrid heat pumps, and €5,000 for combined solar systems or geothermic heat pump systems.

The same minimum grants of €700 to join a collective heating system using renewable energy and €800 for high-performance wood heating are available.

Payment is either by bank transfer directly into the applicant’s account, by cheque, via a reduction to the bill or through an agreed other form, such as sales coupons, with the supplier or installer.

Grants under Coup de pouce chauffage can be added to zero-interest borrowing under the éco-prêt à taux zéro offered by many banks, and other grants from the MaPrimeRénov' system.

It is recommended that anyone applying for the grant go through the France Rénov network of government agencies, which is slowly being extended across the country to offer face-to-face help.
