Reader question: In two-to-three weeks time my daughter is due to give birth. Will I be allowed to drive 25 kilometres to her house and then transport her to the hospital?

Yes, an operator at the Covid-19 helpline said, as it would be considered a "compelling family reason".

You must have an attestation dérogatoire de déplacement and tick the box "Déplacements pour motif familial impérieux, pour l'assistance aux personnes vulnérables et précaires ou la garde d'enfants".

You must also provide proof of the reason for your journey outside the 1km limit, for example a letter from your daughter's midwife or doctor, in case of a police stop.
