France lockdown: Which attestation box for the déchetterie?

Reader question: I was wondering if you can help me as my French is quite poor. It is to my understanding that déchetteries (rubbish tips) are still open. However, I can’t figure out what to tick on the exemption certificate. Can you help me please?

Déchetteries can indeed still open.

A phone operator on the coronavirus helpline said that you should tick the seventh box on the exemption certificate (attestation de déplacement): Convocations judiciaires ou administratives et déplacements pour se rendre dans un service public.

It is also worth noting that while the government has promised that déchetteries will be open during lockdown, this does not apply to all of them. It will be decided region-by-region which ones are open, with some also operating on reduced hours.

It is therefore best to check with your nearest déchetterie before going. You can find out the opening times of your local déchetterie here (in French).

You should also carry with you a valid ID when you go, ideally one that has your home address on it.

At the déchetteries, there may be some extra rules in place such as cars being made to enter one by one.

Barrier gestures must be respected along with wearing a mask.
