France’s communications regulatory authority Arcep has launched an online tool that will allow you to get a complete diagnosis of the internet connection for each home and business in the country.
The tool is called Ma Connexion Internet, which you can find at this link.
You just need to input your commune and then your address in the search bar and you will be able to see the available internet connections and their potential speed.
It will show the different internet connection means available, fibre optic, fixed 4G, cable, etc and for each it will give the maximum download and upload speed.
The Connexion verified the service by looking at the village of Aragon, just outside Carcassonne in the department of Aude. See the image below.
We also looked at a street in Paris by way of comparison. Unsurprisingly, the Paris address had faster internet capabilities.
Arcep has another tool that shows the mobile data coverage across the country. It is called Mon Reseau Mobile and can be found at this link.
In 2013 France established the Plan France Très Haut Débit, which aims to cover 100% of premises (households and workplaces etc) with internet speeds over 30Mbs by [the end of] 2022, and speeds over 100Mbs by 2025.
