Lost Brexit residency card in France: how do I replace it?
We look at the procedure for obtaining a new carte de séjour
Reader Question: I have lost my Withdrawal Agreement carte de séjour. What do I need to do to get a replacement?
If you have lost your Withdrawal Agreement carte de séjour in France, you can obtain a new one – called a duplicata – with the same validity dates. This is different from applying for a new card when one is set to expire.
You can apply for this duplicata via this website.
You need to choose the option Je déclare un changement de situation.
You should sign in with the numéro personnel number from the card, which is written near the middle of the front at the bottom, as well as the start and expiry dates of the card.
Hopefully you still have a scan or photocopy of the card that you have previously used for other purposes… If not, you will need to contact your prefecture for help.
Once you are connected to the site you will have two options: click the second; Je signale la perte, le vol ou la déterioration de la carte. In the next section you are asked for the motif (reason) for needing a duplicata, and you should indicate it is due to une perte (loss).
You will be asked to indicate a date for when you lost the card and then you will be required to attach supporting documents.
These need to be provided as digital files such as .jpg files or PDFs. If necessary scan the documents in and/or take clear photos of them.
The main document required is a sworn statement (déclaration sur l’honneur) explaining that you have lost your titre de séjour (you can download one here).
You will also need a photo, which has to be attached in digital format by providing an ‘e-photo’ number. You can obtain this by using an official photo booth which offers this option (they can be found in shopping centres, large stations etc).
Replacement of a Brexit carte de séjour should be free of charge.
Once you have completed the process you will obtain an email in confirmation. You then have to visit the prefecture to collect the duplicata once alerted that it's ready.
