Is there an age exemption for French ‘taxe foncière’?
I was 75 in January 2019 and because my income is small, I thought I would have total exemption from the taxe foncière . However, I received a bill for around €1,000. This was lower than previous years but I was expecting zero. What could the reason be? D.P.
Pay French local taxes online
This year’s local property taxes should be paid by direct online payment or via the monthly or à l’échéance direct debit methods.
Paying in any other way will incur a fine of 0.2% or at least €15. The approved methods require a bank account within the EU’s Sepa payments zone, which currently includes the UK.
