For years, Channel Islanders looking for their ideal place in the French sun have faced a huge practical disadvantage to other UK residents - but a new event in Jersey aims to even things up a little.

In the last few years there has been a steady increase in the number of people from the UK and the Channel Islands actively looking to buy homes in France.

Those who live in the UK have many options for travel with multiple ferry routes and airports opening up all of France. In addition they can attend many of the shows in the UK from the prestigious “France Show”, to other French-specific events in London, Newbury, and Wetherby, or by visiting the French Village at the various “A Place In The Sun” Shows throughout the UK.

For the people in Jersey or Guernsey, there are limitations for travelling to France for house hunting. They have to rely on one main ferry route, which is weather dependent, or the cost of flying then hiring a car for their stay. If they decide to attend any of the UK shows, they have the added cost of flights or ferry and accommodation costs on top of the price of entry to the shows.

With this in mind, Calum Harkiss, from Currencies Direct, and Pete O’Grady, from Prestige Property Services Europe, decided to create a mini France Show to take to Jersey.

The show will cover Property, Business and Lifestyle, with selected trusted partners showcasing a good selection of properties throughout Brittany, Normandy and La Mayenne. There will also be professional services such as banks, insurance, investment, architects, surveyors and other trusted artisans along with stands for chateaux, mobile homes, holiday homes, boating holidays and much more.

From the outset, the aim has been to keep the show free for attendees and to ensure that there is something for everyone. Full details for the show can be found at www.prestige-pbl.com
